What is the renewal schedule for the residence cards?
For the main investor, the initial residence card is valid for 2 years and each renewal lasts 2 years. This means that you will need 2 renewals before you can apply for Portuguese citizenship or permanent residency at the end of year 5. (2 + 2 + 2)
For dependents, the initial residence card is valid for 2 years and the renewal lasts 3 years. This means that you only need 1 renewal before you can apply for Portuguese citizenship or permanent residency. (2 + 3)
Can dependents apply for family reunification at a later date?
Yes, dependents can be added at any time as long as the main investor has a valid residence card. Each dependent's timeline for citizenship/permanent residency starts upon the receipt of his or her residence card.
