Operations Technical Support

We are looking for a talented technical generalist who loves developing tools, managing projects, and solving problems. The position is fully remote and has flexible hours.

Bordr is a fast growing startup that streamlines the process of moving to Portugal. We do this by taking care of the bureaucracy involved in the relocation process. We pride ourselves on delivering an excellent customer experience, which is in large part due to our operations excellence, automation, and customer obsession.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our systems by finding problems and fixing them, developing new tools, upgrading our existing automations, and creating new ones to replace manual processes. We are looking for a highly motivated technical generalist to help us do this.

You are an operations force multiplier who can partner across fulfillment, customer support, and other operations functions to execute the highest leverage opportunities for solving problems, automating manual processes, and driving continuous improvements.  You will determine which opportunities to develop in-house versus which to outsource to our external engineering partners, and you will own these projects end-to-end.  Successful operations technical support have a customer-service mindset, provide right-sized solutions, and are biased towards action.

  • Solve internal support tickets by implementing technical solutions, corrective actions, mitigations, or workarounds.
  • Identify technical areas of improvement and develop right-sized fit solutions to drive these opportunities.  Exercise engineering judgment when deciding to in-source or out-source.
  • Directly manage external engineering partners; drive their requirements, expectations, and quality of work; and integrate their results into our operations.
  • Directly develop internal solutions and capabilities when appropriate.
  • Design and develop the end-to-end operations fulfilment process for new products, by building on the Bordr infrastructure and architecture used for existing products.

  • Passionate about customer service, operational excellence, and finding opportunities to automate or error-proof
  • You like thinking of ways to improve efficiency or bring delight to the people you work with
  • Ability to self-start and be autonomous within an unstructured environment
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, but also adept at creating order from chaos
  • Experience with the following (or similar equivalents): Airtable, n8n, using and integrating with 3rd party APIs, developing custom APIs, HelpScout, Javascript
  • Excellent problem-framing, problem solving, and project management skills
  • Strong communicator and are experienced explaining technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers
  • Excited by the challenge of designing and implementing solutions that make a real business impact
  • High sense of personal accountability and ownership
  • Team player
  • You own your mistakes. You don’t shift the blame or make excuses. When things break (they will!), you are eager and able to help analyze and fix things
